The logo redesign for MDJ Saint-Hyacinthe began with a clear objective: move away from a literal visual approach in favour of something more modern, symbolic, and meaningful. As a youth house dedicated to helping children and teenagers grow to their full potential, the organization wanted a mark that could reflect core values such as inclusivity, empowerment, growth, trust, engagement and critical thinking. Because the final decision involved a board, it was important that the conceptual phase be both structured and efficient. The project therefore started with in-depth discussions around their vision and objectives, followed by the creation of a list of key words that could all be translated visually.

This list became a collaborative tool. The MDJ team refined it by removing and adding terms of their own, resulting in a concise final selection. From this short list, the concepts of fireworks, family, flower, and star emerged as the strongest foundations for the visual identity. These ideas were distilled into a unique, contemporary mark that feels both positive and empowering, without being overly literal. The final logo was approved immediately by the entire board, confirming that the concept successfully captured the organization’s mission and spirit.

Waving the flag of change
To help fully visualize the impact of the new identity, the proposal included a series of supporting visuals such as flags, t-shirts, building façade applications, and digital mockups. These assets helped bring the brand to life in real-world contexts and demonstrated how the new logo could confidently live across physical spaces and digital platforms.
Wearing the mark of growth and community.
